"Stop measuring productivity by how drained you feel at the end of the day" - WOW. You got me 👌🏻

It should be the other way around... I feel more energized at the end of the day when I feel truly productive.

I especially love the end-of-week reflection prompts. I used to do this bc they were cutesy and fun, but they're even more necessary in my busy mom era bc life is going tooooo fast!

Well, not all of us have this kind of job. Honestly I’m working 8 hour days and every weekend to meet my deadlines. So I cannot relate to this post at all.

I really appreciate your honesty here🫶🏻 and I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve been in seasons of working long hours and feeling like there’s no room to breathe, so I hear you. My intention with this post wasn’t to ignore that, but to offer shifts that you can adapt even when time is tight. Little things like protecting your peace, doing a weekly reset, decluttering with the PARA method, or chasing alignment are all doable even with a full schedule. but of course, everyone’s version will look different (which is totally ok too!)

I started using batch days --- I have certain tasks set up for Monday-Friday and the weekend. If I don't start my day with a list of things to do I will flounder. I have my tasks set up in Asana so all I have to do is bring up my set task list each morning and I am ready to rock n' roll.

Thank you for writing the post! I was literally just thinking about this… I was so stressed yesterday trying to get everything done and now my to do list seems never ending…. there seems to be more to do then there is time to do it all. It is just hard since I have school then schoolwork and I having trouble with time management and prioritizing tasks. I feel burnt-out every day. Do you have any tips?

Omg I feel you so much! it’s like the to-do list never ends, and just when you check one thing off, 5 more pop up. I’ve totally been there, especially juggling school and everything else. One thing that helps me is breaking everything down into must do, should do, and can wait. Even just choosing 1–3 priorities a day helps it feel less overwhelming. Also, don’t underestimate the power of rest. Burnout makes everything feel 10x heavier. You’ve got this! and I’m always here if you need to vent or brainstorm time hacks!

Thank you so much! 💖 I will try to sort my tasks into must do, should do and can wait.

I think my problem is that I expect I can do more than I am actually able to do and I can’t finish everything, I feel bad about myself, burnout, and the cycle continues.

I 100% agree: burnout makes everything more miserable.

I know EXACTLY how that feels!! It’s such a hard cycle. like you set these super high expectations for yourself and then when you can’t hit them all (because you’re human!) it feels like failure even though it’s not. You’re doing so much, and honestly just recognizing that pattern is such a powerful first step. Be gentle with yourself🫶🏻

Love the blocking tips & curious to check out the PARA method 🙌🏼 Do you have any templates or sneak peeks into how you've set up Notion with this structure?

Expand full comment
Robin Collins's avatar

ok love this question! I’ve set mine up with a page for each PARA category (projects, areas, resources, archives) and then I just sort everything I’m working on or learning into one of those

Life stuff like budgeting, meal planning, or home maintenance goes in Areas. Then current goals or launches live in Projects. any random inspo or notes from books and things, go in Resources. But I’ve found myself using a commonplace notebook or Obsidian for that. And anything old or inactive (like old monthly budgets or things I put on hold) gets moved to Archives

It really helps me cut the chaos and I can glance at Projects for priority tasks, check Areas for the life stuff that keeps everything running, and stay on track without feeling too overwhelmed!

I really like the idea of creating blocks in your day. It has really helped me focus and efficiently split up my to-do list. I think it's also helpful to know your "sleep chronotype" when you do this, as I explain in one of my previous essays: https://femmefactale.substack.com/p/passing-on-5-am-why-im-not-sipping Personally, I'd be useless if you woke me up at 5 am!
